Researchers found a 20-year-old HIV-positive adult on antiretroviral therapy (ART) may be expected to live into their early 70s – a life expectancy approaching that of the general U.S. population.
However, life expectancy is lower for people with a history of injecting drugs as well as those who are not white.
Well, ARVs that contain smaller than historical amounts of AZT are not going to be so toxic – so we’re talking about a lesser poison than a better medicine.
As to the other points, it is not surprising that people who inject drugs will get ill faster. Also most diseases aside from ‘HIV disease’ have a race-based effect. That doesn’t mean they’re the result of sexual promiscuity.
