New Hollywood movie with HIV+ protagonist

Just released in the USA is the film Dallas Buyers Club, a semi-fictitious account of Ron Woodruff, a HIV+ man who smuggles in unapproved non-toxic medication from Mexico for self-use and distribution amongst fellow afflicted individuals in his ‘club’.

While reviews suggest it makes for an excellent drama, there is surely more unintentional fiction than fact. The actual Woodruff was a known drug user and in the official trailer, doctors “estimate” he has around a month to live. In other words, his drug use was divorced as a direct cause of his positive test, and he was given a very neat 30 days to live.
