BBC iPlayer currently has a 20-minute report titled Africa’s Population Explosion which details the current challenges and opportunities in the continent.
The description of the programme will be interesting enough to non-UK residents unable to watch it: “Africa is in the midst of a baby boom – the median age across the continent is just 19. The BBC’s Africa correspondent, Alastair Leithead investigates.”
If the median age is 19, the young population are mostly Thabo Mbeki’s ‘children’, so to speak; those who were born or were young children during the implementation of ‘denialist policies’. As weight to Duesberg et al.’s withdrawn paper, a poorly treated HIV epidemic and a population explosion are not logical.
